Meet Dr. Loary Funchess (Pearland, TX)

Loary Funchess, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2024. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Houston, where her journey into healthcare began.

Her passion for optometry started while volunteering with a nonprofit organization that provided vision care to underserved communities. After seeing the life-changing impact of clear vision, she felt inspired to change career paths and pursue optometry.

During her clinical training, Dr. Funchess gained hands-on experience in managing a wide range of eye conditions, including dry eye, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. She also provided pre- and post-operative care and worked alongside a specialist in Vision Rehabilitation, where she developed a strong interest in helping children and adults who benefit from vision therapy.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Funchess is dedicated to patient education and making sure every person she sees feels comfortable and informed about their eye health. She is an active member of the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Funchess has lived in Texas for over 20 years and is proud to serve the community she calls home. She enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients and helping them see their best every day.
